Formaldehyde Litigation
Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable gas that has a distinct, pungent smell. It is used in the production of fertilizer, paper, plywood, and urea-formaldehyde resins. Formaldehyde is given off as a gas from the manufactured wood products used in new mobile homes. It is also used as a preservative in antiseptics, medicines, and cosmetics. Workers are exposed to formaldehyde in fertilizer, paper and wood products, plants, as well as hospitals, laboratories, morgues and funeral homes.
Formaldehyde is now recognized as a known human carcinogen. For several years, it has been known to cause cancers of the nose and throat. In 2009, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that formaldehyde can also cause leukemia.
The Metzger Law Group has recently begun litigating cases of workers exposed to formaldehyde to who have developed leukemia, as well as cancers of the nose or throat. If you have been exposed to formaldehyde in California and have been diagnosed with leukemia or such cancers, please contact the Metzger Law Group for a free case evaluation and consultation.
